Pran-RFL Group’s newly established manufacturing facility, Barendra Rajshahi Textile Ltd, has rapidly become a significant employment hub, generating 2,000 jobs within just six months of commencing operations. With an ambitious plan to expand further and create up to 12,000 jobs, the company is set to transform the region’s industrial landscape.
Located on a 26-acre site in Naodapara, Rajshahi, once home to the dormant Rajshahi Textile Mill, the factory is currently producing approximately six lakh pairs of shoes and bags monthly, with the majority of these products exported to markets across Europe, America and beyond. The factory’s monthly sales already reach Taka 20–25 crore.
The facility manufactures a variety of footwear, luggage and storage bags, with future plans to diversify into ready-made garments. Additionally, Pran-RFL Group intends to establish a world-class call centre and a training academy within the premises to further bolster employment, especially among women.
Kamruzzaman Kamal, Director (Marketing) of Pran-RFL Group, announced plans to invest Taka 350 crore over the next two years to support this expansion. “This investment aims to increase employment opportunities to around 12,000 people in the region,” he said. The company sources raw materials both locally and internationally to meet diverse market demands.
The factory employs predominantly local workers, with 90% being women, including marginalised community members.
Pran-RFL Group Chairman and CEO Ahsan Khan Chowdhury shared his vision for regional development, stating, “Our goal is to decentralise industrial growth, bringing jobs to remote areas like Rajshahi, reducing migration to cities and fostering sustainable local economies.” He also revealed plans to develop the factory into a green industrial park focused on export-oriented products and to expand employment opportunities for women through ventures such as telemarketing centres.
