Mallcom India Limited, a manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE), has announced key milestones in its growth strategy, including the operationalisation of its manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat.
The company has invested more than Rs. 100 crore (US $10.47 million) in the plant, which marks its 17th manufacturing unit. The facility currently employs over 200 workers, comprising around 50 direct employees and more than 160 indirect workers. Mallcom plans to increase total employment at the site to more than 300 by next year.
The Sanand facility is equipped with multiple production lines, including NBR and PU gloves dipping lines, injection moulding machines, glove printing lines, as well as manufacturing capabilities for safety helmets and bump caps. The company recently added a new NBR dipping line featuring online printing and stripping technology and has also localised the production of Protech PU gloves, which were previously imported.
Mallcom noted that while it continues to source certain raw materials from countries including China, Italy, Sri Lanka, Brazil and the Netherlands, it remains focused on strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and increasing localisation across its product portfolio.
Commenting on the development, Executive Director Giriraj Mall said the Sanand facility represented a significant milestone in the company’s expansion plans and reflected its commitment to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities in India. He added that the company’s ongoing investments were aimed at balancing innovation, sustainability and the development of indigenous production capabilities.
Associate Vice President Rohit Mall said the facility’s advanced technologies and enhanced production capabilities would enable the company to meet evolving industry requirements while maintaining a strong focus on quality and compliance. He added that the expansion would support long-term value creation and generate meaningful employment opportunities.
Mallcom has also established what it describes as India’s first Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) unit for Protech PU gloves at the Sanand facility. The company said the unit is intended to serve the growing industrial safety market in India while reducing dependence on imported PU gloves, a category traditionally dominated by suppliers from China and other Asian markets.
The company stated that the Sanand facility will play a central role in its future manufacturing strategy by enabling capacity expansion, greater localisation and accelerated product innovation. The plant also marks an important step in broadening Mallcom’s manufacturing footprint beyond its established operations in West Bengal and Uttarakhand.
