
In a major step towards Kurnool district’s industrial growth, Tuesday’s “bhumi puja” for the future Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Park at Banavasi in Yemmiganur mandal was completed. The goal of the MSME park is to serve as a centre for the textile and allied industries.
Basic infrastructure will be built over 22 acres in the first phase in three months. Plans call for the establishment of textile-related units, including an effluent treatment system, on the remaining 50 acres.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s dedication to the welfare of handloom weavers was reiterated by BC Welfare, Handlooms, and Textiles Minister S. Savitha during the “bhumi puja” event. She claimed that after seeing firsthand the difficulties Mangalagiri weavers endure, CM Naidu gave her the order to put their wellbeing first.
According to her, the State Government gives handlooms in the state 200 free units of electricity each month, while powerlooms receive 500 units. In addition, Rs. 348 crore (US $ 41.14 million) has been set aside for the establishment of handloom clusters and the organisation of exhibits.
T.G. Bharath, Minister of Industries and Commerce, promised to work towards acquiring attention for textiles created in Yemmiganur. He added that he would ensure that the shawls produced in Yemmiganur are utilised in the Industries Department and that he would also try to persuade the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to use them.
