Dr. Romesh Khajuria, Chairman of the Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textiles, has emphasised that J&K’s wool producers can significantly contribute to enhancing India’s textile sector by producing high-quality wool. He made these remarks during a meeting with representatives of wool producer FPOs from Kashmir at Kissan Ghar.
Speaking to the wool producers, he stated that if the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) is carried out in its true spirit, it may benefit the wool-producing farmers and make Jammu & Kashmir one of India’s top producers of high-quality wool.
Dr. Khajuria went on to say that the Jammu and Kashmir government ought to set up a system for buying wool from farmers and FPOs established under the HADP program.
