According to a press release, the organisations will also choose three RMG factories each year as model businesses to carry out productivity development pilot projects with technical assistance from NPO.
To fasten innovation and capacity building in Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector, The MoU has provisions for joint research actions and collaborations on programs supported by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO).
Speaking at the signing event, BGMEA representatives underlined how urgent it is to adopt Industry 4.0 in light of changing supply chain dynamics, global tariff changes, and technological disruptions. “Bangladesh can no longer rely solely on cost advantage; we must focus on quality, skills, agility, and innovation to remain globally competitive,” stated Hosne Quamar Alam, Director of BGMEA.
Through this partnership, BGMEA and NPO will integrate IoT, digital tools, and productivity-driven innovation throughout the RMG value chain to enable a justifiable shift towards smart manufacturing.
