The Goa government has approved a proposal by Brighter Ideas Production and Supplies Pvt Ltd to establish an apparel manufacturing cluster in Honda, Sattari, North Goa.
The proposed facility will manufacture school uniforms, school bags, rainwear, safety apparel and other institutional textile products. The company plans to supply these products to government departments and institutions, including schools, police departments, healthcare facilities and municipalities. The project will also include skill development and training programmes.
The Council of Ministers approved leasing a 416.16-square-meter government-owned Civil Supplies godown at Honda to the company for its operations.
The proposal was earlier recommended by the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (Goa-IPB), which suggested using an unused government warehouse for the project.
The Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, which operates 19 godowns across Goa for the public distribution system, reviewed the proposal and found that one of its two godowns at Honda could be made available to Brighter Ideas Production and Supplies Pvt Ltd , as it was not currently required for operational purposes.
The proposal involved leasing the government property to the company on a nomination basis. The Finance Department subsequently advised that the matter be placed before the Council of Ministers for approval.
