Since last few days, a lot has been said about many garment factories being closed in Noida, but there has been no official or even concrete statement in this regard from an industry body.
However, soon there will be strong confirmation in this regard as leading industry body Indian Industry Association (IIA) will start a proper study to find out the exact number of closed factories as well as the reasons for their closure.
As per Kulmani Gupta, President, IIA, it is necessary to know the actual situation about the closed factories so that everyone gets a clear and honest picture.
To find out the actual number, IIA will collect data from various departments like electricity, CGST, SGST and District Industry centre.
For instance, if a factory is closed there are enough chances that it discontinued its electricity connection, etc. Similarly, how many companies deposited their tax or not? How many companies came forward to DIC regarding their problems?
After proper analysis of all these data, it will be figured out how many companies or factories closed and in which particular industry.
As far as the garment manufacturing industry is concerned, few of the factories of top export houses are currently non-operational, but nobody officially accepts it.
