A US $ 5.36 million investment will be made by DC Industry (Bangladesh) Company Ltd and the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza) to establish a bag and wallet manufacturing factory in the Bepza Economic Zone in Mirsharai, Chittagong.
The agreement was drafted at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka by Han Chenguang, the managing director of the business, and Md Ashraful Kabir, member (investment promotion) of Bepza, according to a press statement.
An estimated 3,000 jobs would be created by the investment, and the company aims to produce 2.5 million purses, 1.5 million backpacks, and 1 million wallets annually.
Bepza’s executive chairman, Maj Gen Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, stated that the company constantly supports investments made to produce a wide range of goods.
To date, 31 companies—including DC Industry (Bangladesh) Ltd.—have signed contracts to establish production facilities within the Bepza Economic Zone, with a total of US $ 711 million in anticipated investments.
