Bihar has announced a major step in its drive to become an industrial hub, with a new readymade garments unit to be established in Bela Industrial Area, Phase-2, Muzaffarpur. The facility will be developed by M/s Gogreen Apparel Limited with a private investment of Rs. 23.36 crore (US $ 2.64 million). It will have the capacity to produce 5.5 million garments annually, providing a significant boost to the state’s textile industry.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the project had been approved only after the company submitted all required documents, including land records, a project report and bank loan sanction letters. He added that financial incentives from the Government would be granted only after verifying actual expenditure, to ensure public funds were used responsibly.
Choudhary noted that the unit falls within the textile and leather sector, which the State Government has designated a high-priority industry to drive job creation, attract private investment and strengthen the economy.
He emphasised that the initiative was part of the NDA Government’s broader push under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to expand employment opportunities. He said the recently approved Industrial Policy 2025 had laid the foundation for faster growth, and that this project would take the state a step closer to its economic and industrial goals.
The new facility is expected to create jobs for local workers and inject fresh momentum into Muzaffarpur’s economy. Bihar aims to position itself as a leading centre for textile production in the years ahead.
