Use of different kinds of fabrics is a growing trend, and companies are adding this concept as a growth opportunity. Delhi-based Theme India taking a cue from the same, has just started its silk division and will now ship high-value silk beaded garments. Earlier it was more into cotton garments for women and men. “Everybody is doing cotton, so to be different and remain competitive in the market, we tried to do something which is not very common. We have started silk dresses for DKNY and its average FOB will be about US $ 38-50. As our factory is in Noida, handwork of beads will be little easy for us as we are arranging some hand-workers in-house at our factory and little will be done in Sikandrabad (Bulandshahr district). The only challenge is the right sourcing of various kinds of silk fabrics as initial orders are small, 200-300 pieces. It is a boutique business, but with good future growth prospects,” shares JB Singh, Proprietor of the company, with 20 years of experience in garment business. With the capacity of producing 20,000 pieces per month, Theme India is also working for high-end buyers like Paul Smith and Bonprix. Enthusiastic with market and overall conditions, the decade old company is expecting almost 20-25 per cent growth in the current fiscal.
