Lectra, the world leader in integrated technology solutions dedicated to industries using soft materials has announced an extended range of its highly successful Versalis, responding to the challenges of leather goods production for fashion, automotive and furniture. Conceived as a result of an investment of 6 years and ¤ 15 million of R&D, Lectra has brought forth the game-changing solution for automated leather cutting rooms. Picking the cues of the booming leather industry Daniel Harari, Lectra CEO says “Optimizing the use of leather is an obsession for Lectra.”
Armed with the capacity to scan leather and nest the pieces on the hide in separate stages, Versalis is now capable of “multi-hide” nesting that increases material savings by up to 4%. The new Lectra technology can cut several half hides simultaneously, boosting productivity; and simulate costs prior to the cutting phase. Developed with an in-built predictive maintenance system, situations of machine downtime can be predicted and handled adeptly. Consequently, Versalis is capable of reducing material consumption by a record margin of 15% and an unmatched return on investment.
Designing end to end solutions that are fully integrated, Lectra has developed new product to optimize the leather cutting room and make the PD process more efficient and profitable. “Our customers see Lectra as a strategic partner helping them protect their margins by improving their cutting room organization and performance”, concludes Céline Choussy Bedouet, Marketing Director for Automotive, Furniture, Technical Textiles and Composite Materials, Lectra.
