INDA and EDANA, two of the foremost associations in the nonwovens industry, have approved the creation of the Global Nonwovens Alliance (GNA) and have agreed to serve as the founding members. Each organisation will appoint six individuals—including the current Chair and five other members—to form the Alliance initial Board.
The approval was in response to the collaborative vision articulated in a Letter of Intent dated September 2024, and signifies one of the most significant steps towards advancing collaboration in the nonwovens industry globally. The GNA will be formed as a non-profit association in accordance with US coordination of businesses as a requirement of US law.
The common GNA vision is to facilitate a collective effort to address global challenges, expedite innovation, expand global reach, while simultaneously addressing important regional interests. INDA and EDANA will continue to work independently, but will coordinate leadership, staff and programming to support the common priorities across the nonwovens value chain.
“This is not a merger, it is a strategic alliance committed to the future of nonwovens with mutual respect,” stated Tony Fragnito, President of INDA. Murat Dogru, General Manager of EDANA stated “GNA allows us to scale up efforts and enhance our global presence to the benefit of our members.”
GNA’s governance will guarantee balanced regional representation, transparency, and long-term strategic objectives. In the future, Allied Membership will open to like-minded non-profit trade and professional organisations worldwide.
