Adidas, the most recent store to experience a cyberattack in recent weeks, issued a warning that its customer data had been hacked. The sporting giant said that the thieves had gained access to specific client information via a third-party customer support provider.
Adidas stated that it was currently contacting its consumers and that the attackers had not stolen any passwords or payment information.
“With the help of top information security specialists, we initiated a thorough investigation and promptly took action to contain the incident,” the business stated in a statement.
According to Adidas, the exposed data “mainly consists of contact information” of customers who have previously gotten in touch with its customer service support line.
In accordance with applicable law, Adidas is in the process of notifying relevant data protection and law enforcement authorities as well as potentially impacted consumers.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or concern caused by this incident, and we remain fully committed to protecting our consumers’ privacy and security,” the statement read.
It is the most recent in a series of cyberattacks against retailers, such as Co-op and M&S, which have warned that the interruption will cost them US $ 405 million in lost revenue this year.
