The Industries Department’s Handlooms and Textiles directorate plans to create a mobile application for efficient weaver and product mapping in addition to implementing an artificial intelligence (AI)-based rebate management system. The project has recently received administrative approval from the Kerala State Government.
All principal handloom weavers’ cooperative societies in the state are eligible for the current rebate program. The Government-approved rates and dates are used by the organisations to perform rebate sales. The suggested AI-based rebate management system aims to minimise expenses and risks while effectively tracking, maintaining, and optimising the entire process and guaranteeing regulatory compliance.
The goal of the proposed smartphone application, Handloom Jalakam, is to develop an efficient platform for geotagging, gathering, and updating data about weavers, co-ops, and power loom and handloom organisations, as well as mapping their products throughout the state. In addition to these projects, the directorate’s e-office and e-governance initiatives will continue with the acquisition of new gear and software as well as the upgrading of current ones.
In order to carry out the handloom school uniform project, the directorate already has an online service software management system and “Handsum” software.
