
Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dharmapala Weerakkody, engaged in discussions with Anwar Hossain, the Administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), during a recent meeting at the EPB office in Dhaka.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral trade and investment relations between the two nations. Anwar Hossain underscored the potential for collaboration in key areas such as joint ventures, technology transfer, and skill development within the textile and apparel sector.
Hossain expressed a strong interest in identifying new opportunities for cooperation, particularly in textile manufacturing, highlighting that both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka possess complementary strengths in this industry.
The High Commissioner reiterated the importance of strengthening economic ties with Bangladesh and emphasized the need to explore innovative avenues for collaboration, especially in the apparel sector, which is crucial for both economies.
Both parties committed to taking actionable steps to unlock the full potential of their economic partnership, paving the way for future collaborations in the textile industry.
