Approximately 800 workers at T&Z Group’s Apparels Plus Eco Limited in Gazipur have initiated a strike due to 45 days of unpaid meal allowances. The workers, who began their protest around 9:00 AM on Monday 2nd December, have remained inside the factory premises located in the Basan Jogitala area.
According to the Assistant Superintendent of Police for Gazipur Industrial Police, Mosharraf Hossain, the workers expressed their grievances anonymously, stating that the lack of payment for their meal allowances has prompted the peaceful strike. They have indicated that they are willing to return to work once the overdue payments are received.
In response to the situation, a 10-member mobile police team is actively working to mediate and resolve the issue. Attempts to reach Shahadat Hossain Shamim, the factory owner, for comment were unsuccessful.
