Clothing businesses are expected to see the largest rise in sales this Black Friday compared to last, according to a new survey conducted by digital PR agency Tank.
The Black Friday Readiness Report, which looked at over 150 retailers to find out where customers might be missing out on the best deals this Black Friday because some retailers’ websites did not rank on Google’s first pages, suggests that fashion retailers could be in for “bumper sales” as new data shows the industry is expected to see the largest increase in web traffic this year.
The increase in traffic was expected after Google announced a significant overhaul of its search algorithms and systems in November in response to complaints that its changes are driving more online traffic to news sites with affiliate links instead of retailers’ pages, potentially hurting even well-known brands.
According to the research, high street mainstay Marks & Spencer is presently anticipated to see the largest increase in internet traffic compared to the previous year, with 1,456 per cent, followed by Debenhams (295 per cent) and John Lewis & Partners (134 per cent). With an expected 123 per cent spike in web traffic this Black Friday, fashion was at the top of the list.
