Darshan Mehta, the Managing Director (MD) behind Reliance Brands Ltd. (RBL) is reportedly planning to step down from the position after 20 long years.
The Reliance Brands MD will be transitioning into a mentorship role within the organisation as he retires, taking up the duty of guiding the emerging leaders of the group.
With sole focus on discovering new leaders, Mehta will also be tasked with exploring gaps in the market for business opportunities, the report added.
As the key player behind the growth of this Reliance arm, he will continue to be affiliated with the group as their non-executive director on the board.
Established in 2007, Reliance Brands Limited is a part of Reliance Industries Limited, created to cater to the luxury segment consumers and international brand expansions in the country.
The group has brought major global brands in India including Muji, Coach, Jimmy Choo, Pottery Barn, Ferragamo, LensCrafters, Boss, Bottega Veneta, Zegna, Valentino and Versace, among many others.
According to the report, Reliance Group has not yet revealed the replacement for the position of managing director. In the meantime, a group of senior executives will oversee the company’s operations.
Before joining Reliance, Mehta held high-ranking roles at companies like Arvind Brands.
