Leading figures from India’s garment industry have praised Bihar’s Textile Policy, calling it one of the best in the country. At the Textiles Investors Meet in Patna, representatives from major companies like Trendsetter International, Richa Global, and Shahi Exports expressed interest in investing in Bihar.
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh highlighted Bihar’s potential for ready-made garment (RMG) manufacturing, pointing out that the sector can create many jobs. He urged companies to consider Bihar as a key location for textile production.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and Industry Minister Nitish Mishra echoed this call, emphasising Bihar’s attractive incentives and efficient local workforce. They welcomed entrepreneurs eager to invest in the state.
AEPC Chairman Sudhir Sekhri shared impressive statistics – Bihar’s garment exports grew by 58.6 per cent in 2023-24, while India’s overall garment exports declined by 10.2 per cent. He encouraged industrialists to take advantage of Bihar’s supportive business environment and stressed the importance of timely subsidies and clearances for smooth operations.
He also remarked that the apparel sector across the country, including at Tirupur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Chandigarh, employ a large number of skilled and semi-skilled workers hailing from the state of Bihar. The local availability of those semi-skilled and skilled workers will lead to saving costs in the manufacturing process.
The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) organised the event, highlighting Bihar’s potential to become a major player in India’s textile industry.
