Bluebell Group has appointed two new leaders, Sharmila Murat and Emmanuel de Place, to its top management teams.
Murat will become the group chief commercial officer of Bluebell Group. In this newly created regional position, she will directly report to the group’s president and CEO, Ashley Micklewright, and play a crucial part in developing and carrying out the company’s strategic direction for the ensuing years.
Murat formerly held the position of chief investment officer at Chalhoub Group, where she played a key role in the development and introduction of new brands and concepts. She has over 25 years of strategic, operational, and investment experience in the US and the Middle East.
Emmanuel de Place will assume leadership of Bluebell Korea and report to the group’s president and CEO. Prior to taking over the management of the quickly expanding Central European market, he spent the most of his career with Lagardère Travel Retail, first in Canada and subsequently in the US.
Since 2010, Place has served as the Asia-Pacific region’s CEO from his base in Singapore. During this time, he has overseen the growth of the group’s luxury and fashion businesses, particularly in Greater China, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. Place has also created new partnerships with brands and local operators, shaped new business models, and created cutting-edge retail concepts and customer experiences.
Bluebell Group says that the appointment of these leaders will boost Bluebell’s strategic capabilities and position in the Asian retail industry.
Founded in 1954, Bluebell Group’s distribution network includes flagship stores, shop-in-shops, counters, its own multi-brand concepts, as well as a highly selective wholesale network, together with both direct e-commerce and marketplaces, covering both domestic and travel retail.
Today, it is present in Japan, South Korea, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia and Australia, and operates accessories, footwear and apparel among its many offerings.
