As part of its ongoing transformation strategy, Matalan has appointed Phil Hackney as Chief Supply Chain Operation Officer and Katherine Davis as Chief Retail Officer.
Up to May 2022, Hackney most recently held the position of Chief Operating Officer at The Very Group. He was the Logistics Director for Pets at Home before this. He will be in charge of the logistics and supply chain operations for the brand in his capacity as chief supply chain operation officer.
Davis comes from Paperchase, where she was Chief Retail & People Director from May 2021. She now works for Matalan. She has also held prominent positions in the past at Marks & Spencer, George at Asda, Pets at Home, and Asda. Davis’ new position will centre on carrying out Matalan’s retail strategy. Jo Whitfield, who was chosen as CEO earlier this year, will be the primary point of contact for Davis and Hackney.
Whitfield said, “I am thrilled to welcome Phil and Katherine as two great new additions to the senior executive team as we continue to move at pace through our transformation.”
The announcement comes after a series of recent Matalan appointments and the former lenders’ purchase of the world’s largest value fashion retailer. These people include former Co-op Customer Director Ali Jones and former Lidl CEO Karl-Heinz Holland as Chair and Chief Customer and Omni-Channel Officer.
