In an apparel factory of Ludhiana, seven child labourers, including two girls, were rescued by a joint team of police, district task force and the NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA).
After medical examinations, the children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and are now sheltered at a child care shelter home.
There are media reports mentioning that a raid was conducted on the basis of a tip-off when the children were found working as labourers and rescued.
It is being said that among the child labourers, five are natives of Uttar Pradesh and two are from Bihar.
A person of BBA said that the children are aged between 10 to 12 and are school dropouts.
As per reports, these children were being forced to work in inhuman conditions and the rescue team also learnt from the children that the factory owner made them work for long hours without any break.
