
Ishwardi Export Processing Zone or IEPZ — established in 2001, Ishwardi EPZ is located at Pabna district — has fetched a significant investment of US $ 25 million from Japanese apparel manufacturing company Roulin (BD) Limited, which is going to invest this amount in the IEPZ to expand its business there and in the process create employment for around 3,500 Bangladeshi nationals.
Roulin (BD) Limited signed an agreement in this regard on 19 May (Wednesday) with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA).
According to reports, Roulin (BD), the major share of which was taken over by Matsuoka Corporation (a major player in the wholesale sector of Japan), has been operating its business in IEPZ since 2011 and invested around US $ 4.53 million already even as the new shareholder is looking to expand the existing operation of the company by investing around US $ 25 million more.
Representative of Matsuoka Corporation Osamu Sasaki on behalf of Roulin (BD) signed the agreement in this regard with Md. Mahmudul Hossain Khan, Member (Investment Promotion) for BEPZA, in the presence of Executive Chairman of BEPZA, Major General Md. Nazrul Islam.
