Thanks to disruption in transportation services (truckload services), congestion at Colombo Port in Sri Lanka is worsening by the day thereby creating fresh supply chain worries.
Media reports maintained this adding the new development can hit import and exports to and from Bangladesh as Colombo acts as a major transhipment port.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, traders and logistics service providers have, reportedly, underlined even if it usually takes eight days for exported goods shipped from Chittagong Port to reach Colombo and then loaded into a mother vessel there, completing the task now was taking three days more because of the serious container build-up at Colombo.
Owing to the same, exporters have expressed apprehensions that exports ready for shipments will get hit even if shipping lines are worried the new crisis will cause financial losses for them.
