
Many garment exporters in Bangladesh have maintained Russian importers in greater numbers were contacting them and discussing purchase of apparel items from Bangladesh consequent to facing issues in sourcing products from other countries on account of the ongoing conflict with Ukraine as well as the various sanctions imposed on it by Western countries.
Media reports maintained this citing industry people and experts.
“…we hope the export to Russia will make a leap; we are working on some samples for the Russian buyers,” reportedly, claimed Managing Director of Glorius Sun Fashion Garments Ltd., Muhammad Rubaet Ahmed even if Russian Ambassador in Dhaka, while talking to newsmen recently, reportedly, floated an idea to introduce barter trade with Bangladesh suggesting as part of which Dhaka can send apparels to Moscow in exchange of other goods from Russia so as to skirt the sanctions.
Notwithstanding being a non-traditional destination, Russia is considered amongst one of the most potential and emerging markets for ‘Made in Bangladesh’ apparel items.
