
Apparel brands and retailers associated with Japan Chain Stores Association (JCSA) have seen growth in their sales during November ’21 – after a long time as fashion retail industry in the country has been on negative trajectory of late.
According to the released statistics by JCSA, growth was recorded in menswear and womenswear categories, while all other clothing segments including kidswear fell both on Y-o-Y and M-o-M basis in November.
Apparel retail sales valued 63,805.35 million yen (US $ 555.48 million) in the 11th month of 2021, growing marginally by 1.20 per cent on Y-o-Y basis and by around 4 per cent as compared to October ’21.
Revenues generated by womenswear products were 17,010.84 million yen (US $ 148.10 million) in November ’21 and increased by 10 per cent on monthly basis, while the yearly growth was 5.60 per cent.
The sales of menswear products valued 12,848.67 million yen (US $ 111.86 million) in November this year…The yearly growth was only 4.60 per cent but monthly increase was 20.10 per cent in menswear category.
All other types of clothing, including kidswear, continued being sluggish and dropped by 2 per cent in Nov. ’21 over Nov. ’20, while monthly decline was 3.70 per cent as compared to October ’21. The retail sales revenues clocked by these clothing segments were 33,945.84 million yen (US $ 295.52 million) in November…
