US-based retail chain Nordstrom has finally ended its 19-month long gap of working without a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with the appointment of Edmond Mesrobian, after Kumar Srinivasan resigned back in January last year.
Prior to this appointment, Mesrobian was working with UK-based retailer Tesco. He will be responsible to support digital and technical capabilities of the company while boosting the customer reach and involvement.
Before Tesco, Edmond Mesrobian has also worked on operational and technical innovations as CTO with global travel firm Expedia, that includes e-travel brands like Expedia.com, Hotels.com, and Hotwire.com.
Speaking on the development, Blake Nordstrom, Co-President, Nordstrom Inc. elucidated that after a thorough research the company is thrilled to have the experience of Edmond on board as its latest CTO. “Edmond brings with him nearly 30 years of expertise as a technology expert, and his contribution towards the enhancement of retail, high-tech and Internet-based businesses,” Blake added.
Furthermore, Nordstrom’s president said that with the transformation in industry and customer’s preferences taking place, Mesrobian will aid the retailer on its path towards enhancing its business and offer a better shopping experience to the customers.
On his appointment at Nordstrom, Edmond said that the retailer is leading the charge to re-evaluate the technology and digital tools’ importance in the retail sector. “I’m excited to be joining a terrific team to support the retailer’s continued focus in involving technology innovation to cater to consumers in fresh and better ways,” he added.
