
Newly appointed Union Minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta has announced that Uttarakhand, one of the northern states of India, will soon set up two textile parks, as approved by the Central Government. However, the decision on the final location of the parks is yet to be taken by the State Government.
The Minister said that weavers will be provided hi-tech infrastructural facilities, modern technology, training and raw materials at these textile parks, which will further create employment opportunities in the state.

Furthermore, the Minister from Almora constituency stated that he aims to improve the conditions of the weavers living in remote areas of Uttarakhand and in the hilly areas along the Sino-Indian border. These textile parks will help in reducing migration rate in the region in search of jobs and not only the weavers but educated and skilled youth will also get work opportunities, Tamta added.
