Last month Apparel Resources published a news “Will Ashok Rajani be the new Chairman of AEPC?” and today on 5th January, AEPC (Apparel Export Promotion Council) has confirmed that Ashok G Rajani will be the new chairman of the council for 2016-17.
Although Rajani is known as a reasonable, responsible and experienced person in the apparel export fraternity of India, it will be interesting to see how he deals with immediate challenges that are in front of him – like bringing transparency in AEPC, working for the welfare of small- and medium-level exporters, among others.
Associated with AEPC since 1978, Rajani had worked as Senior Vice Chairman of AEPC and as Chairman (Export Promotion) at the council during 2000-2001, 2006-2007, and 2010-2011 before taking over as AEPC Chairman. Also the Founder and Chairman of Midas Touch Exports, a leading apparel manufacturer and exporter of India, Rajani has been actively associated with the various garment and textiles organizations and was on the board of Alok industries Limited – one of the largest Integrated Textiles Company in India.
Currently, he is the Trustee of The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), Governor on the board of Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) and Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC). He has previously served as the President of CMAI and was also on board of Governors of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
