Expressing contentment over the development in Bangladesh’s garment sector’s measures taken for fire protection and labour protection, German Economic Cooperation and Development Minister Gerd Müller has pledged to continue supporting Bangladesh. The commitment by the German minister came after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina appealed to the foreign buyers to increase the prices of apparel products, which would ultimately help the workers to get better wages. Müller was impressed by the compliance by DBL Group, a major garment exporter of Bangladesh, which has high ecological and social standards and produces garment items mainly for German customers.
Germany is a major destination for Bangladeshi garment products with major retailers like Hugo Boss, Adidas, Olymp, KiK, Lidl, S.Oliver, and Gerry Webber sourcing from Bangladesh.
