Instagram has announced latest commerce eligibility requirement applicable to all eligible businesses and creator account who want to connect to the shoppers to sell products on the platform.
This is to go effective globally from 9 July wherever Instagram shopping is supported.
Businesses and creator account with at least one eligible product will use shopping tags for driving shoppers to its website.
The US businesses, which are part of Instagram’s checkout beta, will now allow their shoppers to make purchase directly in app. The innovation will deliver enhanced transparency and more trusted shopping experience for shoppers.
Under the new policy, each business selling on Instagram will have to tag products from a single website that they own and sell from, so that businesses have a consistent and trusted shopping experience.
Moreover, the businesses that sign up for Instagram shopping will be notified when they can start tagging products after the approval. In case any business does not receive the approval, they will be informed with full reason to help them take the necessary steps to get approval.
The existing businesses will receive an in-app notification about how to come in compliance, in the coming week while the new businesses will go through Instagram’s updated onboarding flow.
Furthermore, in future the updated commerce eligibility requirements will be applicable to businesses selling on Facebook commerce surface too.
