BigCommerce, a SaaS ecommerce platform, has joined hands with Facebook to unlock checkout on Instagram feature for American merchants. With this new feature, the customers would now be allowed to checkout through Instagram while making a purchase.
The company becomes the first one to adopt the feature in the US that would offer the shoppers a safe and secure way of buying a product on Instagram with just a few clicks and without having to leave the app.
The merchants will have to upload their storefront catalogue to Instagram and allow the shoppers to shop directly from the app rather than navigating them to the brand’s website, and pay using PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover.
The customers will also be able to check the order status, estimated delivery, cancel order, initiate return and seek additional support and other details on the application as per a press release by BigCommerce.
Furthermore, the shoppers can even store their payment credentials within the app to make any further payments and transaction. This would also allow the brands to launch product directly on Instagram, and sell products on Instagram Live.
A few brands already testing the checkout feature include Badgley Mischka, Spearmint Love and DressUp where they showcase checkout-enabled products in their Instagram posts and stories.
Such tools and features empower the brands to reach out to the customer at their convenience.
“Creating a streamlined checkout experience is paramount for merchants looking to social commerce to drive revenue growth. The rollout of checkout on Instagram is another significant step in Instagram’s evolution towards becoming an essential commerce channel for customer-focused brands. BigCommerce is proud to be one of a select group of partners to offer their customers access to this innovative new feature at launch,” commented, Brent Bellm, CEO, BigCommerce.
