Brother Industries, Ltd. – a Japanese multinational electronics and electrical equipment company – has announced to build a machine tool production plant near Bengaluru (India) with an estimated cost of 2 billion yen (US $ 15 million).
The project, sprawling over 32,100 square meter area in the Japanese Industrial Township Vasanthanarsapura, Tumkur, is scheduled to be completed in September 2024 with production planned to begin in December of the same year.
In addition, solar panels will also be installed on the roof of the new plant as an initiative to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 600 tons annually.
As per Brother, the first three-year plan (From FY ’22-FY ’24) aims at tapping significant growth in the industrial equipment business of the company and machine tools manufacturing is one of the significant areas where the company is looking to strengthen in India.
It’s pertinent to mention here that India currently has a population of over 1.4 billion people, and the population and economy are expected to continually grow with a large market growth potential primarily for automobiles, motorcycles and garments.
In March 2022, Brother Machinery India Pvt. Ltd. opened an office in Bengaluru to provide after-sales service, technical support, and marketing to this growing market.
Brother’s machine tools are currently produced at the Kariya Plant in Japan and Brother Machinery Xian Co., Ltd. in China. The move to setting up a production plant in India will now help Brother build a system that can deliver parts to the Indian customers in a short time.
