Value addition is the key strength of Indian garment manufacturers and adding them to deliver fresh and fast value addition concepts, Alps Sewing Machines provides the industry with varied automated embroidery machines suitable not only for big manufacturing units but also for smaller units. At their booth, Alps showcased the HUSQVARNA VIKING range of embroidery machines that come with a touchscreen panel running on the iOS platform. The Designer Epic model of the range claims to be the world’s first and best today. The model has the biggest throat area of 12.2 inches and a sewing height of 5.25 inches. Adding to that, the machine also has around 120 new features that are unavailable in any other machine in the industry. The touchscreen panel attached to the machine is Wi-Fi enabled and works like an iPad as all the required embroidery software can be easily downloaded from AppStore.

Besides the computerized embroidery machines, the company also displayed a range of PFAFF machines. “We have received a warm response for the re-launched PFAFF Creative Range owing to the market demands. The re-launched range has five unique features that provide performance with the highest precision and control in each and every stitch,” said Aditya, Partner – Alps Sewing Machines. The machines come with the exclusive PFAFF® Creative™ Color Touchscreen that provides a 180º view, ensuring greater visibility. The screen carries an intuitive and user-friendly layout on which the stitches can be seen in actual size, and embroidery designs in true colour on the clear, high resolution display. The machines also come with Custom LED lights that can optimize and adjust bright lights while illuminating the entire work area with no shadows.
A Handi Quilter was also up on display at the booth. The fully-computerized long arm quilting machine has a 12 feet studio frame and comes with a Pro-Stitcher Software. The machine can be used for making bedsheets. On countering the challenges faced in introducing automation of value-addition in the apparel industry, Aditya said, “The main hitch is the lack of understanding of technicalities and concept with the bosses of the companies. Most of the bosses in the production houses depend on the masterji to describe them the difficulties or complications involved. A big cartel of masters and employees is a roadblock to the use of automation since even today the work that can be performed by machines are done manually.”
