    After almost a period of 14 months, Bangladesh’s garment exports witnessed a slowdown for the first time in September when apparel shipments posted a 7.5 per cent negative growth. But as the festival season gets going, things are only going to make a sharp turnaround.

    Second only to China in terms of apparel export prowess, Bangladeshwould significantly benefit from it. All it needs to do is take care of a couple of things back home, lest it misses the bus.

    The Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB) and the BGMEA had recently decided to collaborate to promote high-end fashionable garments, which will fetch the industry rich dividends, as it continues to record new landmarks in terms of overall sustainability!

    As we hope Bangladesh will do better in months to come, the present issue talks about the resilience of the factories. We have done a lead story on Lingerie as it’s one product that exemplifies how Bangladesh is moving up its value chain to fetch greater export turnover.
