    Is US retail in turmoil…? Year after year the international retail scenario is changing and the brands/retailers are shifting towards different alternatives. With wider online presence rather than just physical stores, better products at reduced prices and omnichannels saving on delivery costs, many of the old and established players who failed to keep pace, have gone in ‘red’. The turmoil in US retail is reflected in the performance of many traditional retailers, from different segments, filing for bankruptcy in last two years. Indian apparel exporters, in particular, are a worried lot seeing some well-known companies – Sears, Gymboree, JCPenney and some more in news for negative reasons.

    Meanwhile, there is cheerful news at home for the textile industry as the Government confers them excellence awards for the first time. The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu conferred ‘Threads of Excellence Awards’ on 17 persons for their outstanding contribution in different fields of the textile sector.
