Of late China’s apparel trade has gone down, creating opportunities for other countries in the region to get into business. As per the World Trade Statistical Review 2018 by the World Trade Organization, China’s market shares in global apparel exports fell from its peak – 38.8 per cent in 2014 to a record low of 34.9 per cent in 2017. But India, though could not grab the share of China’s business, has been gaining by taking away business from Indonesia, and will soon surpass this country in its apparel export to USA.
