
Experts stated at a seminar on Monday that reducing trade costs by streamlining customs procedures, as well as further enhancing the investment climate and skill development, would be crucial for Bangladesh to manage the challenges that come with leaving the Least Developed Country (LDC) category.
They added that increasing the amount of free trade agreements signed with other nations, attracting more foreign investment, and enhancing the state of labour rights were all crucial in this regard.
LDC Graduation of Bangladesh: Challenges and Opportunities was the title of the seminar that was held in the capital by the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA).
Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC) Chairman Ahmed Munirus Saleheen was present as chief guest.
President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Jashim Uddin and Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Amin Helaly were present as special guests.
BTTC former member Dr Mustafa Abid Khan presented a keynote paper in the seminar presided over by BPGMEA President Shamim Ahmed.
