Santoni has collaborated with Lenzing’s TENCEL Lyocell branded fibers on den/IM TECH. The companies will be showcasing the concept at Munich Fabric Start for the very first time. They will be introducing the 3D performance in new markets such as footwear and accessories.
The products that will be displayed at the event will include a seamless concept shoe and 3D super-performing backpack. Earlier they have produced the innovative den/IM knits with indigo yarns.
The new den/IM TECH project captures the most vital features of technology such as versatility, sustainability and technical performance. The main target of this venture is to highlight sustainability as well as efficiency while at the same time upping the ante in product performance.
Birgit Schnetzlinger, Business Manager for Footwear, Lenzing, mentioned, “Especially for shoes, moisture management and breathability are key properties as they contribute to a good microclimate in the shoe. More components are being made with TENCIL Lyocell fibers as it provides better performance and is environment friendly.
Lenzing fibers are derived from wood and exhibit some of the exclusive features such as high strength and a unique ability for moisture transfer. These are the some breathtaking properties of den/IM shoe and backpack.
The Santoni Spa well-known for seamless knitting and speedy, efficient and reliable construction has used two machines for this project. The X Machine is developed for footwear that supports 3D patterns and can knit innumerable intarsia items for seamless shoe uppers. On the other hand, for the backpacks Mecmor’s versatile Variatex technology is used.
Tricia Carey, Director of Global Business Development, Lenzing, said “Our collaboration with Santoni clearly demonstrates the creative designs that result when exceptional performance fibers combine with industry-leading seamless technology.”
