Swiss entrepreneurs are keen to invest in the Bangladesh leather sector even as the Swiss envoy to Bangladesh recently handed over a letter from a Zurich-based tannery, related to its interest to visit the Savar’s tannery, to the concerned minister.
Media reports maintained this adding Switzerland’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Nathalie Chuard has, reportedly, underlined Swiss entrepreneurs were keen to invest in the Bangladesh leather sector even as the Swiss envoy in a meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at the latter’s office, reportedly, handed him over a letter from a Zurich-based tannery, which wants to take a tour of the Savar’s tannery estate.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud on his part, reportedly, also called upon the Swiss buyers to increase imports of textile and garment items from Bangladesh even as according to the Swiss Federal Customs Administration, in 2020, goods worth about 610 million francs were traded between Bangladesh and Switzerland, of which Bangladesh exported 60 million Swiss francs and imported goods worth 13 million Swiss francs.
