
Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry, praised the industry’s enthusiasm for the upcoming PM MITRA Parks and urged collaboration in R&D and innovation for greater progress.
Goyal commended “Seven State Governments, including Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, for their exemplary initiatives in creating a favorable textiles manufacturing ecosystem.” The Minister urged the industry to leverage the Ministry of Textiles’ existing schemes, such as the National Technical Textiles Mission and the Scheme for Capacity Building in the Textile Sector (Samarth).
The Minister proposed establishing an Invest India desk within the Ministry of Textiles to support investors in setting up or expanding their manufacturing operations to meet global demand.
At the event, Shri Piyush Goyal revealed a PM MITRA Brochure crafted by the Textile Team of Invest India.
The industry interaction focused on sustainability, R&D centers, PM MITRA factories’ compliance with ESG standards, and producing value-added products.
The Minister stressed phased development for resource utilisation and textile value chain integration. Two action teams were proposed to study ESG norms and park design for upcoming units in PM MITRA parks.
PM Mitra Parks will be developed through a joint Central-State Special Purpose Vehicle in a Public Private Partnership mode.
Each Greenfield PM MITRA Park will receive Rs. 500 crores for common infrastructure and an additional Rs. 300 crores as an investor incentive on a first come, first serve basis.
