Five organisations, including the Benapole Transport Agency Owners Association, have announced an indefinite strike from 8 June (Wednesday) to press home their demands, resulting in loading and unloading of goods at the port remaining suspended.
Their three demands are withdrawing Deputy Director of Benapole Land Port Mamun Kabir Tarafdar, appointing a skilled driver after increasing the supply of equipment needed for the port and keeping the port area free from traffic congestion after expanding designated places and ensuring adequate sheds.
The announcement to go on strike was, reportedly, announced by the General Secretary of Benapole Transport Agency Owners Association, Azim Uddin Gazi on Tuesday, who underlined they will go for an indefinite work abstention from 8 June.
