
Bangladesh, which has been struggling with electricity supply even as production in apparel and textile units allegedly took a hit on account of the same, three new units namely second unit of Rampal power plant, first unit of S Alam’s SS Power plant in Banskhali in Chittagong and the second unit of Adani Power Plant in India have announced the start of operations.
Of these, Adani has already announced the commercial operation date (COD) of the second unit of its 1600 MW Godda power plant on 26th June, set up in Jharkhand in India, exclusively to supply electricity to Bangladesh even as the Director of Bangladesh Power Development Board (Public Relation) on his part maintained the second unit of Rampal 1320 MW (660X2) was synchronised with the national grid at 8:51 am Wednesday.
This is as per reports, which added Bangladesh’s overall electricity demand has dropped to 8,200 megawatt on occasion of the national holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha when all offices, industries and establishments are closed in the country.
Reports further added demand for electricity in the country is 12,000 MW at day peak time, which goes up to 16,000 MW during peak hours in the evening.
