The Pakistan’s Minister for Textile Industry adopted some measures to meet the international standards for cotton and to increase its textile exports to other countries. The Ministry has also instructed the State Governments to execute the Cotton Control Act to ensure standardization and grading of cotton as per the standards of the Pakistan Cotton Standards Institute (PCST). Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC) has acquired over 4000 germ-plasm from the United States, and is using these resources in developing long and extra long staple varieties through breeding for quality traits.
