Sweden is keen on expanding trade relations with the Bangladesh for benefit of the people of both the countries, observed Swedish Ambassador Johan Frisell recently. “Bangladesh exports garments worth US $ 5 billion every year to one of its known brands H&M. Hence, the readymade garment sector in Bangladesh is also expected to derive benefits from the cooperation, said Frisell while speaking at a function in Dhaka.
Earlier in September, Sweden signed an agreement with Bangladesh and ILO to start a new initiative for improving working conditions and rights for all workers in the readymade garment industry of Bangladesh under which Sweden will spend US $ 5.4 million.
