
Following an improvement in the pandemic situation and growing economic activities in the country, there is a sharp rise in CMSME loans in Bangladesh.
Media reports maintained this citing data of the country’s central bank in this regard.
Meanwhile, as per data from Bangladesh Bank, non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) and banks in Bangladesh disbursed around Taka 2,15,786 crore in loans to CMSMEs last year, up from what was Taka 1,53,496 crore a year ago even as the financial sector posted over 40 per cent year-on-year growth in loan disbursement to cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) in 2021.
Reports further added despite significant rise in the volume of lending to CMSMEs, financial sector could achieve a little over 85 per cent of its loan disbursement target of Taka 2,52,760 crore for the sector in 2021.
