Following the recent initiative of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to digitise wage payment of the garment workers to give an impetus to the Government’s goal of ‘Cashless Bangladesh’, three more factories namely Designer Fashion Limited, A&E Bangladesh and Tara Group, have tied up with mobile financial service provider bKash to facilitate payment of workers’ salary in their mobile wallets.

At present, 180 RMG factories in the country are disbursing salary through bKash to more than 0.2 million workers. Since this salary disbursement system through bKash is gaining trust and popularity, more and more factories are enrolling into it, including the above-mentioned three leading readymade garment exporters, underlined a press release issued by bKash recently.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of bKash, Kamal Quadir; Managing Director of Designer Fashion Limited, Jashim Uddin; Managing Director of A&E Bangladesh, Angelo Leanage; Head of Finance of Tara Spinning Limited, Md Yeakub Ali and DGM of Enayetpur Spinning Mills Limited, Md Mushfequzzaman have signed agreements and exchanged documents with bKash.

As part of the agreement, around 12,000 employees of these factories will get their wages through bKash now.
