With the monsoon rains subsiding of late, rawhide trade in Bangladesh, especially in and around the capital Dhaka, has gained momentum once again.
This is as per reports, which added seasonal traders were bringing rawhides of sacrificed animals from Banasree, Badda Gulshan, Banani and nearby areas even as orphanages, madrasas and mosques in the areas were also bringing donated rawhides to Gulshan-2.
Speaking to the media, a seasonal trader who came to the Gulshan area with a target to buy over 3,000 rawhides reportedly maintained prices of hides in Gulshan were high even as unlike other years rawhide trade in the port city of Chittagong was also reportedly better this time around.
Interacting with the media, the general secretary of an organisation involved in rawhide collection in Chittagong reportedly maintained in 2022, they collected around 100,000 rawhides while the target for this year was to collect 150,000 rawhides.
