
A draft policy has been produced by the Government of Rajasthan with the aim of increasing exports by means of digital infrastructure, expedited clearances, and ease of doing business (EoDB).
According to Government sources, the administration is looking for recommendations on the strategy from trade associations, exporters, and industrialists. “The final policy will be announced following the Lok Sabha elections, now that the model code of conduct is in effect,” they stated.
The proposed Export Promotion Policy 2024 states that, with US $ 9.69 billion in exports in 2022–2023 (FY ’23), or 2.15 per cent of all exports from India, Rajasthan ranked as the 11th largest exporting state.
According to the draft policy, overseas trade would assist improve the state’s economic prospects and generate a significant number of jobs due to the sectoral advantages within its economy.
The state’s export logistics should be competitive for all modes, according to the proposed policy. Programmes for developing skills will also be emphasised in order to promote entrepreneurship in the industry.
Rajasthan’s exports had a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.22 per cent between FY ’19 and FY ’23, which was marginally better than India’s national export growth rate of 8.11 per cent during that time.
Based on Government data, the US accounted for approximately 22.50 per cent of the state’s exports in 2022–2023. The proposed policy focuses on a number of industries, including textiles and clothing.
