Over four decades old Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan (GEAR) recently elected its new working committee unanimously. Rajiv Dewan of Ma’am Arts has been elected as the President while Navin Adwani of The Choice Fashions and Vimal Shah of Goodwill Impex is now VP of the association. While Aseem Singla of Fashion Images Overseas has been elected as the General Secretary, Arun Gupta of Kiran Modes is the new treasurer. Ashish Ahuja of Ultimate Expressions will continue as the Joint Secretary.
Talking to Apparel Resources, Rajiv Dewan shared his priorities saying, “We have to increase the apparel export from Jaipur and entire Rajasthan. We will make sure that VASTRA fair takes place in the future, as it could not happen this time. We will invite buying houses to Jaipur and arrange their factory visits.”
He further added that the new team will also work to solve the long pending issue of getting land for apparel training centre.
Aseem Singla shared that soon the new team will have the meeting and finalize the agenda and strategy in detail. “We will try to review our progress after every three months. Collective growth is our top priority. For this we will collect necessary data also,” he added.
GEAR, with more than 270 members is the body of Rajasthan-based apparel exporters. Jaipur is one of the favourite choices of overseas buyers especially for women dresses and traditional arts like block print. However, with the continuous challenges at the global and national level, most of the apparel exporters of Jaipur are not growing as expected.
